I've been looking at Kenshi but apparently it's been in development for 5 years and still in early alpha, so I'm reluctant to drop $20 on it. Not interested in: Dwarf Fortress, Aurora 4X Here are the sandboxy "work your way up from nothing" games I already own: I'm in the mood for something sandboxy with a decently high learning curve, depth, and a sense of accomplishment as you expand and automate, working your way up from rags to riches. I already know about Commander: The Great War and I'll be eyeing that during the summer sale but is there anything else I should look for?ĭid Gal Civ 3 ever get worth it or should I just play Gal Civ 2 again? 3 is one sale atm and I've got the itch. Kibbles n Shits fucked around with this message at 15:22 on May 28, 2016Īre there any war games that marry the grand strategy aspects of Hearts of Iron 4 with the turn based hex combat of Order of Battle/Panzer General etc? Preferably in a WW2 setting. Edit: Maybe i'll just buy both and appreciate what they have to offer, yolo. Not every game has to be Dark Souls but if there isn't any tactical depth beyond "press A and be leveled up enough to win" then I can't see myself getting through it. I like a well told story but ultimately what drives me is interesting and challenging combat mechanics. I'm tempted to nab it while it's on sale but I have also been looking at Dragon's Dogma which supposedly has more weighty and satisfying combat. If I generally dislike the Shadow of Mordor/Arkham Asylum style of combat will I dislike the Witcher 3? From gameplay videos it seems pretty floaty and button mashy but I haven't experienced it personally. Is Red Dragon worth buying if I will probably never play online? I know PvP is pretty robust thanks to the game's complexity but I'm wondering if single player is worth the price. Gnomoria? It's definitely not as complex as Dwarf Fortress but it has an accessible UI and it scratches some of the same itches. Is there something with the UI of Stonehearth, and the Content of Dwarf Fortress?
